Bazi Compatibility: Finding Your Perfect Match

← Back to Blog

Bazi compatibility looks at how two charts interact: Do your elements support or clash? Does your partner's Day Pillar complement yours? This guide is I Ching-inspired and practical. It does not predict "the one"; it helps you see where you align and where to put in more care.

TL;DR

  • Day Pillar = you and spouse; compare Day Masters and branches first.
  • Generating cycle (e.g. Wood–Fire) = support; controlling cycle = tension that can be balanced.
  • Use the chart to improve communication, not to label the relationship.

Quick start: Compare two charts or get your own with a free Bazi read. Note your Day Masters and main elements.

What Bazi compatibility is (and is not)

Compatibility analysis compares two Bazi charts to see where elements generate or control each other. It does not decide who you should marry or leave. It highlights natural harmony and natural friction so you can communicate and adjust with awareness.

The Day Pillar: core of compatibility

The Day Pillar represents you and your spouse or closest partner. When comparing two charts, look at the two Day Masters (Heavenly Stems): do they generate, control, or share the same element? Generating (e.g. Wood feeds Fire) often feels supportive; controlling (e.g. Metal chops Wood) can feel dynamic but needs more patience and boundaries.

Element pairs in relationship

Complementary (generating): Wood–Fire, Fire–Earth, Earth–Metal, Metal–Water, Water–Wood. One person tends to support the other's energy. Balance by making sure the "feeder" also gets rest and recognition.

Controlling: Wood–Metal, Fire–Water, Earth–Wood, Metal–Fire, Water–Earth. Tension is normal; use it for growth. Add clear communication and one shared ritual (e.g. weekly check-in) so clashes do not pile up.

Same element: Strong understanding, but can lack balance. Introduce the missing element through habits or roles so one person does not carry all of one energy.
